Important Mountain Gorilla Trekking Tips

Way back at home I and my friend used to visit the zoo to look at various exotic animals and this always used to be fun and enjoyable. One day we went to the zoo and drew near the king Kong’s cage, we tried to tease it around by doing some fun facial antics and it retaliated by roaring out so loud. Due to the scary roar my friend Jake peed in his pants and I was full of laughter after seeing his pants wet. A few years past by Jake paid me a visit as we watching a documentary they showed the gorillas and I mocked him by reminding him how he peed in his pant due to the roar of the gorilla.  We laughed about it and started talking about gorillas and this triggered our minds to come and meet the gorillas in their natural environment. We looked for the places where we would watch the gorillas and we choose Uganda as the ideal place for us to see the gorillas in their natural setting.

Last year’s Christmas holidays we decided to visit Uganda for a gorilla trekking safari. As we touched down Uganda we were so amazed to encounter the beautiful country. As we made our airport transfer to our hotel we were able to see Lake Victoria and felt its bliss as we travelled along the road. On reaching Kampala, we went for sightseeing right away as we moved on the roads of Kampala looking at different great architectural buildings of Kampala. When it reached the evening we went to our hotel to have a rest and get ready for the next day’s gorilla tour.

Early in the morning we were picked up by the driver guide and set off to Bwindi impenetrable national park the home of the mountain gorillas in the south western part of Uganda. As we travelled, we were able to look at the wonderful landscape of Uganda with its rolling hills that is bolstered with beautiful green vegetation cover. We also went to the equator which is the imaginary midpoint of the globe in other words the middle point of the earth. We took some pictures from there and also did some curios shopping. Then we set off again until we reached Buhoma some local place in Uganda near Bwindi impenetrable national.  It was 7 hour drive from Kampala to Buhoma.

In Buhoma is where we slept and very early in the morning we headed to Bwindi impenetrable national park and had briefing about gorilla trekking at 8:00am. Then we headed to the tropical rain forests for the buzz, we took almost 4 hours to find the mountain gorillas. When we reached the gorillas, I was so amazed to meet these wonderful creatures again but this time in their natural environment. One looked at me with that scary look but we were already told that these animals are not harmful. We interacted with them as they fed, moved and played around with their young ones. We also took incredible photos of these animals. But what made me wonder is how they relate with each other; one can think these are human beings in the jungle. These beasts are so intelligent and very interesting to watch.

Gorilla trekking was one of my best moments in life. This is some experience I will never forget in my life.
